About Lawyer
Kimberley Tye is Associate Practice Counsel at the Oakville office of Aviva Trial Lawyers, having joined in March 2017. Prior to this she worked as defence counsel in both private practice and several years in-house at another insurance company. Kim’s area of practice is insurance defence with a focus in accident benefits, including priority and loss transfer disputes. Kim received her undergraduate degree from McMaster University in 1997. She went on to obtain her LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 2000 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2002. Kim has experience attending LAT, FSCO and private arbitrations, as well as appearing before superior and divisional courts. Some notable cases include: Lo-Papa and Certas Direct and Waterloo Insurance Company v. The Personal Insurance Company. Kim is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Defence Lawyers. She has spoken at conferences on topics including the Minor Injury Guideline and top priority cases.
